LOGISTICS AND RESPONSE OPERATIONS IN SHALLOW WATER ENVIRONMENTS

The Baltic 1400 Ultra Shallow Draft Landing Craft (USDLC) is a multi-purpose aluminum workboat built by Baltic Workboats and powered by dual MJP UltraJet 305 HT waterjets. Designed for cargo transport, logistics and emergency response operations, the vessel combines strong payload capacity with exceptional maneuverability in shallow water environments.

The Baltic 1400 USDLC was developed as a versatile landing craft capable of operating in extremely shallow waters while transporting personnel, cargo and specialized equipment. The vessel is designed for a wide range of operational tasks including coastal logistics, infrastructure support, environmental response and offshore energy operations.

Its shallow draft allows the craft to approach beaches, riverbanks and undeveloped coastal areas where conventional vessels cannot operate effectively. These capabilities are particularly valuable for offshore support operations, oil-spill response and cargo delivery in remote areas.

DUAL ULTRAJET PROPULSION FOR SHALLOW WATER ACCESS AND CONTROL

Marine Jet Power supplied dual MJP UltraJet 305 HT waterjets for the Baltic 1400 USDLC. The UltraJet series is engineered to provide strong thrust, rapid acceleration and precise maneuverability in compact vessel installations.

Key elements of the propulsion solution include:

• Dual waterjet configuration delivering balanced thrust and redundancy
• Exceptional maneuverability in confined waterways and shallow coastal areas
• Reduced underwater appendages compared with propeller systems
• Reliable propulsion for demanding commercial and industrial workboat missions

The waterjets work together with twin AGCO Sisu diesel engines and ZF gearboxes to ensure efficient propulsion and dependable performance in shallow water operations.

DUAL ULTRAJET PROPULSION FOR SHALLOW WATER ACCESS AND CONTROL

The Baltic 1400 USDLC provides operators with a highly adaptable workboat platform capable of supporting multiple mission profiles:

• Cargo capacity of up to 3 tonnes for equipment transport
• Efficient transit speeds of approximately 20 knots
• Extremely shallow draft of around 0.4 meters enabling beach landings
• Reliable maneuverability for coastal, riverine and offshore operations
• Flexible deck layout for environmental response or logistics tasks

Several units of the Baltic 1400 USDLC have been deployed in offshore energy and environmental response operations in the Caspian Sea, where their shallow draft and cargo capacity have proven valuable for transporting equipment and deploying oil-spill response systems.
