MEETING UNMANNED NAVAL CHALLENGES WITH AGILE WATERJET PROPULSION
The Dearsan USV Salvo is a high-speed unmanned surface vessel (USV) powered by dual MJP 310 and MJP X-Series waterjets. Designed to support reconnaissance, surveillance, coastal patrol and asymmetric naval operations, Salvo delivers agile performance and mission flexibility.
The USV Salvo was developed by Dearsan to serve as an autonomous or remotely controlled surface vessel tailored for modern naval and coastal security missions. Designed to operate in littoral and open waters, Salvo supports a spectrum of tasks including surveillance, reconnaissance, maritime patrol, interdiction, and asymmetric warfare.
OPERATIONAL AGILITY, ENDURANCE AND MULTI-ROLE CAPABILITY
In addition to hydrodynamic performance, integration capability was a key factor. MJP waterjets are designed to support advanced digital control architectures through open communication interfaces and API-based integration. This enables seamless connectivity between the waterjet control system and the vessel’s autonomous navigation suite, remote control station and mission management systems.
For unmanned platforms such as Salvo, this provides several critical advantages:
• Real-time propulsion data exchange with autonomous control system.
• Remote monitoring of thrust, steering and system health
• Integration with collision avoidance and dynamic positioning logic
• Redundant control pathways to enhance operational safety
• Simplified software interfacing during system commissioning
Through API-enabled communication, propulsion commands can be managed dynamically by onboard autonomy software, allowing precise thrust modulation, automated maneuvering patterns and adaptive speed control based on mission parameters.
Waterjet propulsion further enhances unmanned operations by eliminating exposed propellers, reducing entanglement risk and improving safety during high-speed maneuvers or operations in confined and littoral waters.
The result is not only a high-performance propulsion solution — but a digitally integrated propulsion platform purpose-built for next-generation autonomous naval systems.

MJP 310 X
Marine Jet Power supplied a combination of MJP 310 and MJP X-Series waterjets for the Salvo platform, selected to match the performance requirements of a high-speed unmanned surface vessel. The propulsion system delivers efficient thrust, rapid acceleration and precise maneuverability across a broad operating envelope — essential for autonomous ISR, patrol and tactical operations.
