STEALTH, SPEED AND MARITIME DOMINANCE IN ARCHIPELAGIC OPERATIONSUM

The stealth trimaran fast attack craft was developed to support multi-role naval operations across vast archipelagic waters and was built by North Sea Boats. With its wave-piercing trimaran architecture, the vessel is designed to cut through waves rather than ride over them, minimizing pitching and rolling while maintaining high average speeds in adverse conditions.

Stealth features — including reduced radar, infrared, acoustic and magnetic signatures — enhance survivability by making the vessel harder to detect during patrol, EEZ surveillance, anti-piracy and strike missions. The design also supports concealed weapon systems and an 11 m high-speed rigid inflatable boat (RHIB) for special forces or boarding operations.

HIGH-PERFORMANCE QUAD WATERJET PROPULSION SYSTEM

Marine Jet Power supplied quad MJP 550 CSU waterjets to match the performance demands of this stealth trimaran fast attack craft. This configuration delivers robust thrust and precise maneuverability, enabling high-speed transits and controlled handling at all speeds.

The wave-piercing trimaran design — combined with the four waterjets — allows:

  • Smooth hydrodynamic flow through hull intakes for efficient waterjet thrust
  • Enhanced stability due to increased beam and balanced thrust vectors
  • Reliable acceleration and directional control in littoral waters
  • Safety benefits of waterjet propulsion with no exposed propellers

Wave-piercing trimaran hull form allows the craft to maintain higher average speeds and enhanced stability even in rough sea states — improving mission capability and crew comfort.

HIGH SPEED, STABILITY AND MISSION ADAPTABILITY

The combination of quad MJP 550 CSU waterjets with a wave-piercing trimaran hull delivers:

  • High operational speed: ~28–30 knots for fast response
  • Stability in adverse conditions: stable weapon platform due to trimaran geometry
  • Long range endurance: ~2,000 nm at cruising speed
  • Stealth performance: enhanced survivability via low observability
  • Multi-role capability: compatible with patrol, anti-piracy, surveillance and strike missions

This propulsion package reinforces the Navy’s capability to operate effectively across its maritime domain, leveraging speed, stability and stealth.
